The low ceiling problem
Chandeliers were designed for rooms with height. Grand halls, double-story entries, dining rooms with twelve foot ceilings. Most of us do not live in those houses. We live with eight or nine foot ceilings, and the moment you hang anything on a chain you either lose headroom or end up with a light that looks stranded halfway down the wall.
That is the gap a semi flush mount chandelier fills. It keeps the crystal, the symmetry and the sense of occasion, but it stays tucked up near the plaster. This one is 9.84 inches tall in total. A rough guide many decorators use: add the room length and width in feet, and that number in inches is a reasonable fixture diameter. Installing it

Hang the crystals last. It is tempting to build the whole thing on the floor, but a fully dressed fixture is heavier, more awkward and far easier to chip while you are lifting it overhead. Fit the body first, then stand on the ladder and clip strands on one at a time.

Skip solvents and abrasive pads on the lacquered black finish. Plain water and a soft cloth handle everything you will realistically encounter.
Once or twice a year, check that the strands are seated properly and the bulbs are firm in their sockets. Small movements over time are normal, and a thirty second check prevents a surprise.
